This project was undertaken independently from my coursework, during my first year at Imperial College London. Currently, market research and initial prototyping is taking place.

The idea: A sustainable water transportation system for women and children in rural areas of India, which also filters water and generates electricity to be domestically used.

When women and children transport large quantities of water on their heads for long periods of time, their backs could be damaged, which would harm them in the long term. By transporting the water using a rolling drum, more water could be carried and less stress is applied on the users' backs. Furthermore, Aquinos uses the rolling motion of the water to generate electricity to be used for small household applications, and also filters the water. Currently, we are working on ways to filter the water effectively

Our progress so far
This idea was brought to life after winning a £500 grant from the Advanced Hackspace at Imperial College London, through the Hackstarter competition. Dynamos were bought and reverse-engineered to understand how to implement them and make them cheaper. CAD models of these dynamos were constructed on Autodesk Fusion 360 and simulated to static stresses, and the design was altered based on the results.
