Saans
The low-cost sustainable face mask kit
After more than a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks have become more than just a form of physical protection. When a person sees another person wearing a face mask, there is a feeling of trust between the two. As a population, we have gotten so used to the idea of wearing a mask that it has become part of our culture.
The COVID-19 pandemic has called for cheap and effective masks to replace the less accessible N95 masks. Saans, a sustainable filtration kit, goes beyond just filtering the virus by providing an augmented reality features where users can learn more about COVID-19 in their area. The main filter is made of 100% quilting cotton which provides efficient filtration along with immense breathability, keeping the inhaled air cool and fresh. Unlike current masks, all components of Saans are washable and reusable. By simply scanning a QR code on the mask, the user obtains local COVID-19 statistics, nearby testing centers, and prevention measures to keep the user safe.
